Australians are obsessing over new 'puffer slippers' from North Face after a polar blast delivered an icy start to winter.

The $120 slippers match the brand's iconic puffer jackets and have been described as 'game changers' and 'must-haves' after a video showing them off went viral.

'I bought these shoes on a whim and I've never looked back, an investment to be honest,' the young woman wrote alongside a video of the mules.

A woman's TikTok video showing North Face puffer mules has gone viral

The TikTok clip has been seen more than 84,000 times with hundreds of people revealing they have since become obsessed with the footwear.

'Omg I can relate! Bought these thinking would never wear - best investment,' one woman said.

While others were shocked and intrigued.

'Puffer shoes, oh my God I must have them,' one woman declared.

The slippers aren't just for keeping cosy at home either, they are water-resistant and have rubber soles for traction - so can be worn on adventures outside too.

One man said his feet were 'nice and toasty' instantly after popping the shoes on, while another declared he would 'keep them on all winter'.

But some people were less convinced.

'Oh I don't rate these at all, they are a bit ugly,' one woman said.

The shoes are water resistant - making them the perfect slippers for outside adventures

But many people revealed they prefer to keep them as their inside shoes

While another said she would be sticking to her Ugg boots.

The mules retail for $120 on the official website but are listed for $110 on Amazon.

The puffer style also comes in booties, however they don't appear to be as popular with Australian shoppers.

Many Australian states have seen their lowest temperatures of the year this week - with snow recorded in areas as low as Bathurst and Lithgow in New South Wales and Ballarat in Victoria.

Sydney bore the brunt of gale force winds on Monday with Weatherzone forecaster Chris Matthews predicting a cold and windy week for the harbour city.

BOM forecaster Jonathon How said most of eastern Australia would shiver through a chilly week, with the cold conditions to last up until the weekend.
